The neighborhood gem with swamp-pop character
Pal’s is deliberately smaller and stranger than the mega-screen model. Airboat and swamp-pop details give it an unmistakably local frame, while the room works as a gathering place for neighbors, hospitality people, and friends who want to actually talk.
Pal's was founded by a stellar son of Hollywood named Rio Hackford, son of director Taylor Hackford and actress Helen Mirren, who had his own sparkling moments on the big and little screens. He created several legendary bars in Nola and Los Angeles but Pal's was his lil' baby blue, where his love for the hospitality workers that drive this city was fully realized. He left us way too soon because of a rare form of cancer, but his spirit remains, so don't be surprised to see celebs drinking PBRs with the bartenders and cooks that gather at Pal's.
